O&O SafeErase 7 deletes data faster than ever

O&O SafeErase 7 analyzes the computer and searches for data that has not been securely deleted. This data poses a potential security risk and threat to privacy. Simply deleting data under Windows does not permanently destroy data because it still remains located on the disk and could be easily recovered with specialized software. O&O SafeErase deletes files, partitions, and complete systems so easily and securely, not even professional data spies have a chance at recovery.

Berlin, December 17, 2013 – O&O Software, a specialist in data security and data recovery, announces the release of O&O SafeErase 7. The new version 7 is THE solution for private users and administrators to guarantee protection of privacy when deleting files, partitions, and entire hard disks. O&O SafeErase features an analysis function that searches for files that have not been fully deleted. It then shows the user data that could possibly be recovered and pose a threat. Following analysis, the computer can be wiped with just a few clicks so that unauthorized parties never have a chance to get their hands on older files and misuse them. SSDs will be automatically recognized as well and unwanted data can be deleted using resource-sparing TRIM commands. Along with a wide range of positive changes, the user interface and speed of deletion have been improved considerably.

New and improved features

Compatibility: The new version is compatible with Windows 8.1 and fully meets the requirements of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. The Server Edition is designed for use an all Windows servers starting from 2008.

Increased speed: As a result of supporting multicore processors and accelerating the algorithms for deletion, O&O SafeErase 7 is able to delete data much faster than any previous version.

Scripting integration: Using command lines, O&O SafeErase can integrate individual scripts for running deletion automatically.

Delete an entire computer with O&O TotalErase: All files, settings, applications and operating system can be deleted so that a recovery is impossible. It is possible to delete the entire computer including the system partition without use of bootable media.

Six deletion methods: Overwriting data with zeros means less sensitive data can be deleted at great speed. In addition, O&O SafeErase offers a further five methods of deletion, each one differing in the amount of procedures and the type of overwriting employed. Along with standard deletion procedures used by the U.S. Departments of Defense (DoD) and the German Bundesamts für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI), the Gutmann Methods are also available, matching the highest security requirements and overwriting data 35 times.

Browser security: O&O SafeErase lists per browser all the stored information – such as cookies, form data and Internet histories – which can be permanently deleted either individually or combined. Once deleted, there are no traces of Internet activity, and online accounts are protected from unauthorized access.

Detailed reports: O&O SafeErase provides detailed reports that indicate the files that were permanently destroyed and the method that was used for doing so. The reports can be made anonymous by, for example, hiding file names, to protect privacy
