1. All available drives and partitions are displayed clearly on the Start page of the O&O PartitionManager. You can run program functions either by right-clicking on each driver or partition, or by selecting "Action" in the menu bar.

2. The operating system on the Start CD is based on Windows PE, which means that you will not need to have a Windows operating system installed on your computer before running O&O PartitionManager. The Start CD includes additional system rescue tools and management functions, such as the O&O FileExplorer, the O&O RegEditor, the O&O CheckDisk, and a driver manager to download any additional drivers needed. It also allows you to modify your system partition.

3. You can convert basic disks and dynamical disks to different layouts (MBR or GPT). A disk with a GPT layout can host up to 128 partitions or dynamic volumes without the need for extended partitions.

4. You can convert unallocated areas of the hard disk/s (basic disks) into a new primary partition. Since a primary partition behaves just like a separate disk, you are able to install an operating system on it. Creating a partition is straightforward and is accompanied by instructive dialogues.

5. A logical drive can only be created on an extended partition. An extended partition can be split into many logical drives. This makes it possible to create more than four partitions on an MBR basic disk.

6. Depending on the data configuration, the size and the position of the partition may be adapted to the needs of the user.

7. The secure deletion of partitions and their content is integrated as a function in O&O PartitionManager. This means you'll be able to dispose of your old computer and never have to worry about strangers getting hold of your personal or business data.

8. Before shrinking a partition, you can optimize the location of the data to "maximize" the actual shrinking process of the partition. Optimization is based on the technology of our award-winning defragmentation program O&O Defrag.
