Berlin, May 26, 2009 O&O SafeErase 4 now has an even wider range of functions to make permanent deletion of data even easier to achieve. For the first time, O&O SafeErase has pre-defined deletion profiles and offers users the option of securely deleting Browser data and temporary data easily and quickly.

New and improved functions in O&O SafeErase 4 at a glance

• Internet-Security: with the new version of O&O SafeErase, it is now possible for the very first time to delete sensitive internet data too. The various internet browsers are automatically displayed, and the user just has to select which internet data he wishes to delete - for example Cookies.
• Pre-defined deletion profile: O&O SafeErase has pre-defined deletion profiles, enabling the user to simply repeat oft-used deletion processes and thus increase efficiency. The program also saves the type of data which should be deleted, so that the user can simply select the process when starting up and the job will automatically be carried out.
• Quick deletion: Writing over data with zeros means less sensitive data can be deleted at great speed. In addition, O&O SafeErase offers a further five methods of deletion, each one differing in the amount of procedures and the type of overwriting employed. Along with standard deletion procedures used by the U.S. Departments of Defense (DoD) and the German Bundesamts für Sicherheit in der Informationstechnik (BSI), the Gutmann Methods are also available, matching the highest security requirements and writing over data 35 times.
• O&O TotalErase: With this function, a whole computer including its system partition can be securely deleted, without the need for Boot media This process starts automatically after restarting the system.
• Deletion of system drives: Individual system drives can be selected and securely deleted in offline mode.
• Support of multi-core processors: Deletions are hugely speeded up here as the program takes advantage of the entire performance resources of the computer.
• Detailed reports: It is particularly important for administrators that they have some kind of record of what data was deleted, and with which method. Reports can be made anonymous, to maintain data protection standards and to hide file names.
