Berlin, October 2, 2006 - When licensing a piece of software, larger companies are
usually in the market for more than just a few licenses, sometimes requiring coverage
for a few hundred, or even a few thousand, seats. In an effort to meet the needs of
their larger customers, O&O Software, whose "Tools for Windows" including
O&O BlueCon, O&O Defrag, O&O SafeErase or the O&O RescueBox are for many
already a household name, are now offering license combinations that emphasize
simplicity and flexibility. This new volume licensing model allows companies to
license single products for their IT infrastructure at fair and reasonable prices.
For the last three months, corporate customers have been able to purchase the
following easy-to-manage volume licensing options from O&O Software:
- Site License: Authorizes the use of a product at a single company site.
- Country License: Authorizes the use of a product at all company sites in an entire
country.
- Global License: Authorizes the use of a product at all company sites around the
globe.
New Licensing Options for Corporate Customers Well-received
Although only having been available for a few months, the new licensing options from
O&O Software have already been greeted with a warm reception. Counted among the
customers taking advantage of these new licensing options is one of most prominent
chemical manufactures in the USA with their purchase of a Global License for
O&O SafeErase. This license enables them to use this secure deletion software on
every computer in every country, in which they have a presence.
A large German automaker as well has decided to go with a Global License for a
different product, O&O Defrag. This program can defragment all computers within the
company ensuring significant performance increases while carrying out everyday
tasks.
An organization in the European Union also recently purchased a volume license for
O&O Defrag. Today this organization has this optimization software running on
around 25,000 computers.
Eliminating Over- and Under-licensing
Companies spanning the globe from Germany to the USA or Australia are seeing the
value in the Country or Site License variations. Frank Alperstaedt, Managing Director
of O&O Software, elaborated: "Judging from the response, our corporate customers
obviously appreciate the ability to choose between the three volume licensing
variations. For a company with an international presence, the Global License option is
a simple and optimal means to use an O&O product everywhere. For a company with
multiple domestic sites, on the other hand, a Country License would be a more fitting
option. For those companies, however, that only require a software product from O&O
at a single site or facility would probably be best to go with a Site License."
Volume licenses are attractive to companies because they are purchased on a
"per site" basis, rather than a "per seat" basis. With these options, the sometimes
cumbersome management of licenses is not longer an issue, eliminating the problem
of over- and under-licensing as well. This added simplicity and flexibility buttressed by
excellent price points make these new volume licensing options an easy sell to most
corporate users. |
