Fragmented hard disks slow down your productivity
Fragmented files slow down computers in your company and drastically limit their availability. Precious time is wasted because, depending on the fragmentation level, accessing the hard disk becomes slower and slower. The new O&O Defrag 11 Server Edition for Windows Server optimizes your hard disk and securely merges all file fragments.
Differences to previous versions
We have expanded the range of functions of the new O&O Defrag 11 to make it even easier to use. For the first time it’s possible to defragment single folders or files along with hard disks and partitions, simply , by right-clicking. Furthermore, we have developed a background monitoring function which automatically protects your computer against heavy fragmentation without your having to get involved. The new and sophisticated File Status View shows you the quantity and fragmentation level of the most seriously affected files. In addition, the already familiar Block View has been enhanced with detailed information, enabling O&O Defrag 11 to give you an overview of where the individual parts of fragmented files can be found on the hard disk.
Backgound monitoring
Thanks to its background monitoring function, O&O Defrag 11 offers you the possibility of preventing fragmentation at its earliest stage. Newly added and modified files are analyzed and defragmented whenever they’re not being used. O&O Defrag makes sure that your hard disks are constantly working at their best levels.
Managing O&O Defrag across a network
If O&O Defrag is combined with the O&O Enterprise Management Console 2, it’s possible to manage the network from one central location. This not only allows for executing various defragmentation jobs on single computers and sites, but also enables the automatic remote installation of O&O Defrag. All jobs are recorded and listed in detailed reports and saved in the data bank so that you can be kept constantly informed about the successful execution of any job.
O&O OneButtonDefrag
With O&O OneButtonDefrag, you can automate the process of defragmentation with just a few clicks. Having O&O Enterprise Management Console 2 installed will let you run any kind of defragmentation on all computers across your network. Once installed, you never have to worry about the performance of your hard disk. O&O Defrag continues running silently and automatically in the background.
Keep on working during the defragmentation
O&O Defrag is the only defragmentation software which offers the O&O ActivityGuard Pro. This periodically monitors the computer’s capacity during the defragmentation process. If you need the full performance capacity of your computer, O&O Defrag automatically reduces its load on the system to a minimum. O&O Defrag performs unseen in the background. In other words, you are always able to continue working with no restrictions during a defragmentation. O&O ActivityGuard Pro recognizes what and when your computer is being used for, e.g. a lunch break, and distributes more resources to O&O Defrag accordingly.
Methods used by O&O Defrag
All methods offer an efficient and fast online defragmentation of your files. No service or program has to be stopped or closed during the actual defragmentation. STEALTH and SPACE are optimized for the fastest possible defragmentation. The COMPLETE methods allow for a more complete defragmentation, which is why they require more time and take up more disk space. Allocating the disk space in the best way possible also prevents any new fragmentation from occurring. All methods can be applied to all drives that are recognized by Windows.
Online and offline defragmentation
O&O Defrag is able to perform defragmentation online or offline. In this context, online refers to a background defragmentation while the system is running. You can continue working as usual. However, some system files are exclusively locked during this process. These files can only be defragmented whenever the operating system is not locked. This is possible before logging onto Windows during the so-called starting phase of Windows. Since at this point there are still no operating system processes active and you are not yet able to start any applications, this is refered to as offline defragmentation (also known as "boot time defragmentation").
O&O ActivityGuard Pro
This controls the system load caused by the defragmentation and automatically adjusts it to suit the current state of play. You can continue working undisturbed while the defragmentation runs in the background. This is especially useful if you don’t know when the computer will be available for defragmentation. With O&O ActivityGuard Pro, you no longer need to worry about these things. We also recommend deploying O&O AutoSense, which periodically and automatically determines the optimal degree of utilization.
Automatic job execution
A regular defragmentation is the key to constant maximum performance. O&O Defrag offers a refined time schedule function that avoids you having to supervise every single defragmentation. The automatic time schedule for the next ideal defragmentation is determined by O&O Defrag using heuristic methods. You can create, change and delete jobs. If you don’t need a job but also don’t want to erase it, you can simply deactivate it. The jobs will only be executed once they are enabled again.
Status reports
Based on the O&O Defrag status reports, you can document the course of file fragmentation and defragmentation. These reports contain all essential information about your hard disks.
Using the command line version
You can also control a defragmentation using the command line version of O&O Defrag. This way you can include O&O Defrag scripts which, for example, can be run while starting up the system or logging on. The main dialogue is not visible during the start of a command line. A small Defrag icon is placed on the Task tray, and you can follow the progress of a defragmentation on your DOS prompt.
