The new version of O&O Defrag Professional defragments hard disks in Windows XP, Windows 2000 Pro, NT 4.0 Workstation, XP Tablet PC, as well as XP Media Center. Unlink the standard built-in Windows defragmentation, jobs can be easily created and regularly run.
So that a user can continue to work during defragmentation, the O&O ActivityGuard controls the system load and limits the amount of system resources devoted to optimizing the disk. In the test, this tool required 32.5 minutes, an adequate amount of time, to completely defragment a hard disk with 124 GB storage capacity and whose files were 32 percent fragmented.

New in this version is the Screensaver Mode: This ensures that the software works only when the PC is not in use. Defrag V8 operates in five different modes: Background, space optimizing, sort by access, sort by last modified, and sort by file name. In addition, removable drive media such as USB Sticks are also supported.

All in all, the new version leaves behind a nice impression. The $49.95 price is money well spent, although this software is most useful for those user who regularly move large volumes of data around.
