O&O EasyLicensing

For the discerning customer, buying software is a matter of trust. The decision making process can last weeks or months and often includes intensive enquiries and product testing before a commitment is made to buy. O&O delivers high grade, durable and affordable software fit for the future – but it doesn’t want to stop there. O&O also wants to make obtaining software as easy as it can possibly be for every one of its customers.

Thanks to O&O EasyLicensing V4, all customers can now obtain software licenses and other services such as maintenance and support agreements at incredibly good value. With O&O EasyLicensing V4, O&O has created an easy way for customers to both acquire and administer O&O software licenses, with attractive bulk discounts and Enterprise license options included too.

O&O EasyLicensing V4 is aimed at customers from all areas of industry, the service sector, the public sector, research and teaching, regardless of how many licenses are required. In fact, customers can already begin to reap the benefits starting with just 3 licenses!

Simply put, O&O EasyLicensing V4 with its licensing and service options is suitable for any customer with any volume requirement.

In contrast to O&O EasyLicensing V3, the licensing in O&O EasyLicensing V4 excludes Single User versions and/or "Personal Editions".

O&O's licensing program is separated into two distinct forms: Licensing "per Seat", in other words a license for each machine where the software is to be installed; and licensing "per User" - a license per person requiring use of the software. The "per User" licenses are person-bound and do not grant that person the rights to install the product on several machines at once.

By pooling together all the possible volume requirements into a single licensing program, O&O EasyLicensing V4 offers customers all the advantages of the inexpensive Enterprise license program combined with the flexibility offered by the small to medium volume programs.

Licenses can be purchased through O&O EasyLicensing V4 at any time without having to take out a volume license contract. Once the first purchase is made the customer receives an O&O EasyLicensing contract number which covers all their registered O&O licenses. This means the customer can purchase licenses at various different retailers or locations yet still benefit from all the advantages and options offered by O&O EasyLicensing V4.

The Standard License Groups

This attractive license package for 5, 10, 25 or 50 machines enables the simple and cost effective licensing of every "per Seat" O&O Product. Should variable license volumes be required the packages can be lumped together as desired, though strictly on a per-product basis.

The following table shows the license volume packages and their corresponding license groups. The packages are available for every licensed "per Seat" product.

The Volume License Groups

The license group "Volume" is aimed at those customers requiring 100 or more licenses and numerous O&O products and provides THE optimal, low cost licensing solution.

This license group has many attractive features not found in the smaller groups. Customers can mix and match different products and license types within this group, a facility that provides them with enormous flexibility. This means licensing requirements for all "per Seat" products can be lumped together, as well as all the corresponding updates and full versions. Changing from the "Standard" license group to the Volume group is made easy as any pre-existing licenses are seamlessly integrated into the Volume group accounting structure. The only condition here is that the licenses must cover the latest product version.

Back Purchases from the Volume group must carry a minimum order value of 50.00 Euros (based on the O&O list price). An O&O EasyLicensing contract number must be quoted when making a Back Purchase.

The Enterprise License Groups

For customers with several thousand computers, managing and controlling software product licensing presents a huge financial and administrative challenge. Substantial time and personnel costs must be invested in order to comply with licensing conditions and to monitor the installed software.

In order to provide these customers with the simplest possible licensing solutions either in a single location, throughout a country or even globally, O&O has created Enterprise, a licensing group providing Geography-based licensing as opposed to licensing per machine.

The purchase of a Location, Country or Global license generally entitles the customer to purchase all other O&O products within the EL-V3 group too. For this purchase the Further Purchase rules per paragraph 3.2.2 apply. There is one unique aspect to the Location, Country and Global licenses and that is the Server editions. Licenses for Server editions also include the corresponding Professional edition license for the same product. For example, if a customer purchases the O&O Defrag Server Edition Location license, they can also use O&O Defrag Professional Edition on all machines at the same location.

O&O Maintenance Agreements

Every license available under O&O EasyLicensing V4 comes with the additional option to purchase an O&O Maintenance Agreement. This option is open to customers from all sectors. (Specific benefits, options and rules apply to customers from companies, public authorities, non-profit organizations and customers from the research and teaching sectors. These are described separately where appropriate).

An O&O Maintenance Agreement contains the following benefits:

  • Upgrade security
  • Telefon, Fax or E-mail Support (depends on license level)

An O&O Maintenance Agreement operates on a yearly basis (12 months) and can be taken out for any number of years as required. The same rule applies to extensions to existing agreements. The free support enquiries per year must be applied literally on that basis only. For example, a three year maintenance agreement in the license group Standard would include six free support enquiries shared equally over 3 years. They can only be used on a two-per-year basis. If two enquiries are not used per year they are forfeited.
