It combs every sector of the hard disk, the memory card, or the USB Stick to find lost files. With O&O Disk Recovery 7 Professional Edition an unlimited number of files per session can be restored. Accidentally deleted files can be recovered directly from digital cameras, memory cards and USB flash drives, as long as they are recognized by Windows as a drive. For data recovery in companies there are the Admin or Tech editions of O&O Disk Recovery 7. These versions are supplied with O&O BuildPE, which allows administrators, for example, to use O&O Disk Recovery 7 to rescue data even when the Windows operating system is defective or will no longer boot.
New and revised features
O&O Disk Recovery in an emergency:
A data recovery with the O&O DiskRecovery 7 Instant Installation can be carried out without overwriting important data. Installation is done over a second computer, and the files are made available on a portable disk or in the network.
Integrating Data Images:
Images created by O&O DiskImage can be integrated into O&O DiskRecovery 7. To avoid data loss due to hardware failure, a forensic image can be created using O&O DiskImage. This type of image also backs up presumed free disk space, so that a data rescue can be carried out without having to burden the original hardware.
Different search algorithms:
O&O Disk Recovery combines the search processes from three successful data recovery products: O&O DiskRecovery, O&O UnErase and O&O FormatRecovery. The three search algorithms use different technologies which complement each other perfectly.
For quick searching, the algorithm from O&O UnErase can be used which takes little time to find data, even on large disks, and recovers files with all file information included.
The advanced functions in the search algorithm from O&O FormatRecovery enable users to ignore defective sectors. This means a data recovery is still possible even from a damaged volume.
The search algorithms from O&O Disk Recovery scan every sector of the hard disk, memory card or USB flash drive for lost files. Even with file systems that are formatted or destroyed, there is still a chance to reconstruct the data. After completion of the scanning process, users can see a preview of recoverable files. The O&O DiskRecovery preview function supports diverse image and text formats, including JPEG, BMP, TIF and many more.
O&O DeepScan option:
The O&O DeepScan option is able to find even the smallest of files deleted from critical locations such as the Master File Table. Deploying the maximum depth for scanning makes the recovery of such miniscule files possible.
O&O RawScan option:
Should the deleted data be on a formatted disk, users can activate the O&O RawScan option so that the search ignores the file system, enabling data recovery even from formatted disks.
O&O SmartScan option:
O&O SmartScan solves the common problem occurring with data recovery whereby existing files are recovered as well as deleted ones. O&O SmartScan has a filter that excludes existing files, significantly accelerating the scan and recovery process.
Filter function:
The search results can be refined by filtering according to size or time (created/last modified/last accessed). Empty directories or files can also be excluded.
Data Recovery for Companies (O&O Disk Recovery 7 Admin and Tech Editions)
The Admin and Tech Editions of O&O Disk Recovery 7 are supplied with O&O BuildPE. This wizard enables administrators to create a boot medium from which O&O DiskRecovery can be started directly (Instant Installation). The boot media also includes additional O&O system recovery tools that can be used to access the Windows registry or stored files. This means a data recovery is possible even with a defective or no-longer bootable Windows, and on all computers throughout the company.
Differences of the versions
The Professional Edition is particularly suitable for end users who want to save data on their own system. This is a computer-based license.
The Admin Edition may be used on any number of computers within a company by the licensed person. The Admin Edition is ideal for companies looking to recover data from their own computers and who want to avoid the expense of individual licensing.
The Tech Edition allows the use of O&O DiskRecovery on non-company computers. The licensed engineer can work on any number of different computers. The Tech Edition is ideal for companies that offer data recovery as a service to customers.
