When Windows Fails, Your IT Must Remain Operational

A Windows PC no longer starts, a server fails after an update, or a faulty driver prevents access to critical systems. For businesses, every outage can have serious consequences: workflows are interrupted, employees cannot continue working, and business-critical data may become inaccessible.

O&O BlueCon 25 provides IT administrators with an independent recovery environment for diagnosing, repairing, and managing Windows systems, even when the installed operating system can no longer start.

Whether you are dealing with a single workstation, a server, or a larger IT infrastructure, O&O BlueCon helps IT departments and service providers identify the causes of failures, recover systems, and minimize downtime.

As a versatile toolkit for disaster recovery and offline administration, O&O BlueCon provides numerous applications for professional recovery operations.

NEW in O&O BlueCon 25 – Modern System Recovery with a Redesigned Interface

Version 25 introduces a comprehensively modernized recovery environment. A redesigned desktop, updated O&O applications, and improved diagnostic, repair, and administration tools make it easier to work with failed Windows systems.

Support for current hardware, the management of multiple Windows installations, and recovery media creation have also been improved.

New Desktop Interface with Start Menu and Taskbar

The redesigned desktop brings the latest O&O design to the recovery environment. A taskbar, Start menu, and Start panel provide quick and convenient access to the available applications.

The interface follows familiar Windows conventions and supports important keyboard shortcuts. Pressing the Windows key opens the Start menu, while Windows+E launches the file manager.

Updated O&O Tools for System Recovery

O&O BlueCon 25 includes modernized applications designed specifically for diagnosing and repairing Windows installations that can no longer boot.

  • O&O CheckAndRepair: Checks and repairs the Windows component store, important system files, and file system errors. Replaces the previous CheckDisk.
  • O&O DiskCommander: Modern file manager for accessing files, folders, and drives. Replaces the previous FileExplorer.
  • O&O UpdateManager: Allows problematic Windows updates to be removed, even when Windows no longer starts.
  • O&O DriverManager: Manages Windows drivers and allows problematic drivers to be selectively disabled.
  • O&O ServiceManager: Manages Windows services and their startup behavior within an offline installation.
  • O&O RegEditor: Enables direct editing of the Windows registry of the affected system.
  • O&O EventViewer: Displays Windows event logs to investigate startup problems, crashes, and system errors.
  • O&O DeskInfo: Displays important system information and allows it to be exported. Replaces the previous SystemInfo.

Additional applications such as O&O DiskImage, O&O DiskRecovery, O&O PartitionManager, and O&O SafeErase complement the recovery environment according to the edition and license.

Disaster Recovery for Windows PCs and Servers

O&O BlueCon starts independently of the installed Windows operating system using prepared recovery media. This gives administrators access to essential diagnostic, repair, and management functions even when the operating system is no longer responding.

The recovery environment can be started from a USB drive or an ISO image, for example. Integration into the Windows boot menu is also possible.

The Technician and Enterprise Editions additionally support network booting via PXE, allowing compatible computers to start a recovery environment over the network.

Diagnose and Repair Windows Systems

  • Repair Windows: Examine and repair damaged system files, the component store, and file system errors with O&O CheckAndRepair.
  • Remove faulty updates: Uninstall problematic Windows updates offline using O&O UpdateManager.
  • Resolve driver problems: Identify problematic drivers and adjust their startup behavior with O&O DriverManager.
  • Manage Windows services: Examine services offline with O&O ServiceManager and disable them when necessary.
  • Correct registry errors: Edit the affected Windows installation’s registry using O&O RegEditor.
  • Analyze event logs: Examine system and application events with O&O EventViewer to identify possible causes of errors.

Back Up and Recover Data

  • Secure files: Access available drives with O&O DiskCommander and copy important data to external storage media.
  • Back up and recover systems: Use O&O DiskImage to back up entire drives and partitions or restore existing backups.
  • Recover deleted files: Search for lost files with O&O DiskRecovery and recover data where possible, provided the application is included in the license.
  • Manage partitions: Create, modify, move, or delete disk partitions with O&O PartitionManager, where available.
  • Erase confidential data: Securely erase drives and partitions with O&O SafeErase, provided the application is included in the license.
  • Unlock BitLocker drives: Access encrypted storage devices using the appropriate recovery key, password, or key file.

O&O DiskImage is included in all four Business Editions: Corporate, Technician, Site, and Enterprise.

Administer Windows Offline

O&O BlueCon 25 allows administrators to manage a Windows installation without starting it. This makes it possible to investigate serious problems when regular Windows administration tools are no longer accessible.

  • Manage local users and groups: Edit user accounts and group memberships of the selected Windows installation.
  • Reset local passwords: Reset forgotten passwords for local Windows user and administrator accounts.
  • Control drivers: Change startup types for installed drivers and disable problematic drivers.
  • Manage services: Configure Windows services that may be interfering with system startup.
  • Edit the registry: Correct faulty settings directly in the Windows registry.
  • Analyze event logs: Examine system and application logs from the affected Windows installation.

O&O UserManager manages local Windows accounts. Microsoft accounts and domain accounts cannot be modified.

Automatic Selection of the Target Windows System

Particularly useful when working with multiple Windows installations: O&O BlueCon uses the selected target system across its applications.

When another Windows installation is selected, the corresponding tools automatically adopt the new selection. There is no need to select the target system separately in each application.

Improved Hardware and Network Support

Modern IT infrastructures include a wide variety of hardware platforms, storage controllers, and network configurations. O&O BlueCon 25 improves access to these systems through enhanced driver management and networking.

  • Automatic loading of additional drivers: Custom drivers can be loaded automatically when the recovery environment starts, including drivers without a hardware ID.
  • Load drivers when needed: Additional storage and network drivers can be integrated during recovery operations.
  • BitLocker support: Displaying the recovery key ID makes it easier to identify the appropriate recovery key.
  • Wi-Fi support: Connections to hidden wireless networks can also be configured.
  • Current Windows versions: O&O BlueCon 25 supports Windows 10 and 11 as well as Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025.

Create and Deploy Recovery Media Flexibly

O&O BlueCon 25 allows administrators to prepare the required recovery environment and adapt it to different deployment scenarios.

  • USB recovery media: Create bootable media for Windows PCs and servers.
  • ISO images: Provide recovery environments for virtual machines or optical media, for example.
  • WIM images: Create recovery environments for suitable deployment and network scenarios.
  • Windows boot menu: Integrate O&O BlueCon directly into the Windows boot menu on compatible systems.
  • Expert Mode: Select available applications and additional drivers for recovery media.
  • BIOS and UEFI: Create recovery media for systems with traditional BIOS or modern UEFI firmware.

Creating recovery media does not require a separately installed Windows ADK or WinPE add-on.

When an internet connection is available, the media creator can download the current Windows recovery environment from Microsoft. Without an internet connection, it uses the local recovery environment of the computer on which the media is created.

Network Boot via PXE

For businesses managing large numbers of computers, network booting can be a valuable alternative to USB-based recovery.

The Technician and Enterprise Editions of O&O BlueCon 25 support booting compatible computers via PXE. This allows the recovery environment to be provided through an appropriately configured network infrastructure.

This feature is not included in the Corporate or Site Edition.

The Right Edition for Your IT Infrastructure

O&O BlueCon 25 is available in four professional editions tailored to different business sizes and deployment scenarios.

For businesses that need to maintain a single company PC. The Corporate Edition includes essential tools for Windows repair and offline administration, along with O&O DiskImage for drive backup and recovery.

Technician Edition

Less Downtime. More Control Over Your Systems.

When a business-critical Windows system fails, fast and targeted troubleshooting is essential.

O&O BlueCon 25 enables IT departments and service providers to access affected systems and perform repairs independently of the installed operating system.

By combining system diagnostics, offline administration, data recovery, and restoration tools, common problems can often be investigated and resolved without reinstalling the entire operating system.

Support for Windows workstations, servers, virtual machines, and – depending on the edition – network-based recovery scenarios makes O&O BlueCon a versatile solution for professional IT operations.

Be Prepared for the Next System Failure

Recovery media should be ready before a Windows system fails.

With O&O BlueCon 25, administrators can prepare the required recovery environment in advance, integrate additional drivers, and select the available applications according to their license and requirements.

Prepare your IT infrastructure for emergencies so your organization can remain operational even when Windows no longer starts.
