O&O Defrag 18: Now speeds up Windows over Smartphone too
Berlin, 16th September, 2014 – With O&O Defrag 18, Berlin-based O&O Software releases the newest version of its leading solution for defragmentation of PCs and servers. The new version can now also be controlled and managed using any Internet-enabled device, such as a Tablet, Smartphone or the “classic” desktop PC. The integration in the new IT Cloud Management Solution O&O Syspectr offers the user many more features too, such as remote administration and notifying the user about important events occurring in their Windows system.
Integration in O&O Syspectr for simpler management in family and company networks
In addition to the familiar desktop application, O&O Defrag is now also immediately available as a new module in O&O Syspectr, the all-new IT Cloud Management app from O&O. “This integration significantly expands the capabilities of O&O Defrag with numerous components, including Hardware and Software inventory, Remote Console, Remote Desktop as well as monitoring Windows security functions and Windows Updates. New and enhanced functions
Integration in O&O Syspectr: O&O Syspectr monitors your Windows PCs and servers behind the scenes and spots problems before they hurt. All necessary information can be accessed from anywhere in the world over all current browsers on a computer, Smartphone or Tablet. With the integrated Remote Desktop, which also runs in a browser with no extra installation required, any problems can be solved immediately wherever a user is located.
Shorter defragmentation times: With O&O Defrag, several drives can be defragmented simultaneously. In addition, the algorithms have been substantially accelerated, reducing the time required for a defragmentation by up to 35%.
Automatic defragmentation: Automatic defragmentation is enabled by default after the installation of O&O Defrag and optimizes the disks in the background without slowing down the performance of the computer. Special procedures are initiated here to monitor the disk activity and ensure optimal use of system resources.
Optimizing Virtual Machines and Storage Area Networks: O&O Defrag optimizes the actual memory allocation for virtual machines and SANs.
Manufacturer-independent optimization for SSDs: O&O Defrag makes it possible to optimize SSD drives through TRIM commands regardless of their manufacturer even under Windows Vista and Windows 7. Access times for SSDs are sped up, and early wear and tear effects are prevented.
Data security: In the latest version, O&O Defrag deletes the unused disk space upon request. This prevents confidential content of unsafely deleted temporary files being accessed by others.

Fragmentation is prevented intelligently through the separation of files written rarely or frequently.
